BA (Hons) Sports Development and Coaching progression course
Introduction
The BA (Hons) in Sports Development and Coaching has been designed as the top-up progression route from the Foundation Degree (FD) in Sports Development and Coaching (SDC). The top-up builds upon the vocational relevance of the FD SDC award and offers students’ the opportunity to meet their individual needs through the wide choice of modules that can be tailored to meet personal career development plans. The programme is tailored to specifically appeal to FD SDC graduates who demonstrate the ability to progress to honour level study. The programme can form a route to post graduate level progression into physical education teaching via a PGCE or GTP qualification; or to Masters level through the MA in Applied Sports Development. It is also designed to prepare students for employment by equipping them with a diverse range of practical work-based skills, knowledge, and experiences.Course Code / Duration

1 Year Progression programme
This one year programme utilizes third year honours levels modules in sports development and coaching. Students are required to complete a double credit dissertation and four modules from the following options:- Sport and Excellence; Coaching Young Performers; Strategic Management in Sports Organisations; Exercise Prescriptions for Special Populations; Leadership; Performance and Technique Analysis in Sport; International Perspectives of Sport; Independent Study Module; Pedagogy in Practice; Sport and Disability; Applied Sports Development; Performance Coaching.
