Introduction

Sports therapy is becoming increasingly popular, not only in the treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries but also as part of the developing health and fitness industry. This programme integrates academic learning and the development of practical skills to an advanced level. There is a strong emphasis on practical experience and a range of activities that encourage an understanding of well-established principles and practical side. The focus is on the inception of an injury through to rehabilitation, with underpinning knowledge of applied scientific aspects such as anatomy, physiology and biomechanics. This programme is also accredited by the Society of Sports Therapists which is required for progression to other accredited third year programmes.

Entry Requirements

You will need 160 UCAS tariff points. GCSE grade C or above in English Language (or equivalent). GCSE Maths at grade C or above is desirable (or equivalent). If you have another Level 3 qualification it needs to be in an appropriate discipline e.g. BTEC National Diploma in Sport, AS/A2 subjects to include one of PE, Psychology, Biology, Sociology, or other qualification such as NVQ3, CYQ, Massage qualification etc. Sporting involvement – as coach or competitor. You will need an enhanced CRB check .

This course is accredited by the Society of Sports Therapists (SST) and on successful completion of this course there is an established link with UCP Marjon where students can now progress directly on to stage 3 to obtain a BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy.
