Our campus
UCP Marjon is located on a single campus, making it that much easier and faster to meet people. From lecture theatres to accommodation, Library to IT facilities, everything is on your doorstep. Academically we are renowned, but we also play hard, with sports facilities, bars, dining areas and shops close at hand for some well-earned downtime.
Our city
Plymouth city centre is a short bus ride away. The city is great for retail therapy, and recently opened an impressive £200m shopping mall which boasts 48 shops and restaurants in the drakecircus
The entertainment options are also numerous, with a museum, art galleries, plus a host of theatres, cinemas, restaurants, bars and clubs at your disposal. Plymouth is home to Plymouth Argyle Football Team, Plymouth Albion Rugby Football Club and Plymouth Raiders Basketball Team.
The old
A few minutes’ walk from the city’s modern centre is the Hoe, seafront and Barbican area, with its Elizabethan buildings and cobbled streets. Combine history with pleasure by touring the Plymouth Gin Distillery (the spirit’s home since 1793), visit the Mayflower Steps from where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for America in 1620, or hop aboard a sight-seeing boat at the Barbican.
The new
The city centre is mainly pedestrianised, aiding shoppers weaving in and out of the plentiful shops, including the vast new shopping mall. You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to refreshments with cafés, pubs and restaurants galore. Celebrity Chefs Hugh Fearnley - Whittingstall, Gary Rhodes and the Tanner brothers all offer places to eat in Plymouth. Cornwall is also home to a number of restaurants owned by Jamie Oliver and Rick Stein.
Entertainment
Bowl, ski, snowboard, ice skate, horse ride, rock climb on Dartmoor National Park, surf, sail or explore the UK's first artifical reef with the sunken HMS Scilla : Plymouth has it all. For culture vultures, the city’s Theatre Royal often hosts productions prior to West End opening, while The Plymouth Pavilions’ auditorium attracts many major musical artists. Film buffs also have a choice of a modern multiplex or city centre venues.
Our coast
The spectacular West Country coastline abounds with opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts, from swimming and surfing to walking the miles of the South West Coastal Paths, while numerous pubs along the route provide a perfect halfway house for windswept students. There are several glorious beaches within just ten miles of Plymouth, not to mention the ever popular north coast of Cornwall, home to Newquay.
Our countryside
Within a few miles of our campus is Dartmoor National Park, the largest wild area of open country in southern England. You can ramble across the heather covered moorland and discover deep wooded gorges and beautiful reservoirs, or even climb the craggy granite tors if it takes your fancy. Think of it as your own adventure playground. You could visit the Eden Project, in Cornwall to explore the beautiful botanical gardens, attend exhibitions and live music events.
