University College Plymouth St Mark & St John is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Margaret Noble as its new Principal.  Dr Noble will take up the position on 1st September 2009.

Chair of Council at UCP Marjon, Professor John Porter, remarked ‘This is an exciting time for the Institution.  We recently received University College status, and are currently investing £20m in our estates and facilities.  Dr Noble is an outstanding appointment and has the experience and ability to lead UCP Marjon into the future, forging external partnerships and building on our reputation as one of the top university colleges in the UK. I speak on behalf of the Council in saying she will be an excellent successor to Professor David Baker.’

Dr Noble has over 20 years experience in Higher Education senior management and is currently the Pro Vice Chancellor (Learning and Quality) at the University of Greenwich, where she is responsible for managing the University’s academic development and leading on strategies and activities in areas such as learning and teaching, student experience, employability, widening participation and collaborative educational partnerships in the UK and internationally.  In addition, Dr Noble has a strong track record in regional engagement and has overseen a large number of development contracts and projects in the past six years worth in excess of £13m.

In accepting the appointment, Dr Margaret Noble commented ‘UCP Marjon is small in size, but is large in its vision and commitment to its students.  It is a popular Institution, which is reflected in its increasing applications.  I am very excited about the future at UCP Marjon and very much look forward to working with my new colleagues and partners.’
