The centre was launched on Friday 13th February 2009.

The centre will concentrate on the following 3 areas:

• To meet, share ideas, network, acquire "critical friends", collaborate on interdisciplinary and other work and set up groups of like-minded researchers.
•  To pursue some distinctive collaborative projects for all – for example, our archives project and the development of an online research methods database.
• To have an information exchange section – with advice on how to get published or funded or how to be an External examiner.

As part of this project, UCP Marjon is exploring ways to collaborate with other archives within the UK and in the USA,  with church colleges, in Victorian history archives, Victorian novelist archives and local Plymouth archives.

Professor Harris said:
“There is so much fascinating and relevant material of great interest to a number of people.  The trick is to assemble a coalition of interests so we can really put the whole archive on a proper footing."
