students in rat race

On 27th and 28th September three UCP Marjon students took part in the aptly named endurance testing, London Rat Race. 180 teams took part and the girls were one of only 12 all girl teams.

The race involved hours of running whilst navigating around London with a map. Challenges had to be completed at each check point and these included having their hair cut, press ups, sumo wrestling, star jumps and more.

The second day involved cycling 70 miles, orienteering around Hyde Park, kayaking and an abseil from Twickenham Stadium. The girls all 2nd years on the Outdoor Adventure degree were the only team from Plymouth and delighted with their placing of 85th out of 180 teams.

Suzy Steventon Kiy, Kirsteen Swann and Roseanne Gee all agreed it was an exhilarating, tiring and very challenging race but they hope to take part again next year.
